Edith Ball Aquatics Center
City of Tucson
The Edith Ball Aquatics Center was developed for the elderly and disabled citizens of southern Arizona. The Center includes two vessels – a 1,500-square-foot indoor therapy pool kept at an elevated temperature, and a 5,200-square-foot outdoor pool with three components: four 25-yard lanes for lap swimming, a leisure pool with beach entry, and a resistance walking channel. An 80-foot-tall, 16,000-square-foot tensile structure shades the outdoor pool and deck, providing a comfortable year-round environment.
The project received the Sonoran Institute’s 2005 Green Building Award and the 2005 Outstanding Facility Award from the Arizona Parks & Recreation Association.
